Blijf op de hoogte en volg Lindi en Ilse
12 Mei 2016 | Roemenië, Sibiu
This morning we left for school. Today went very well. Ilse is proud of herself that she thought Kindergarten, because this is still a challenge for her. It went okay!
In consultation with the teachers we have decided to let grade 1 (who now is in class with grade 3 and 4) follow the English lessons with grade 0 + 2. This is more their level and this way they will experience more fun with English and we can achieve the goals for them as well.
For grade 0 + 2 (and for us of course) was a great English lesson today, because we got to play outside! We played, Mr. Crocodile, can I cross the river? Mr. Crocodile had to say; yes! only if you jump like a kangaroo/swing like a monkey etc. (these are the animals in the song they've learned 'Let's go to the zoo').
In the afternoon we planned the lessons for Saturday and Sunday. Level 1 will start with the new topic; The Gruffalo and we will also teach them songs for when our teachers Noortje and Clemens will visit us.
Level 2 will go on with the topic Food.
For level 3 we had a total different idea. We feel that they make a lot of interferention mistakes. We think the best way to unlearn this is to talk a lot with them and repeat their sentences but then say them correct. We call this topic; Let's talk' and will be about the feelings, selfimage and relations of the children and about sexuality (in consultation with our mentor). Lindi will teach this class because of the prevention program she is working on. Ilse will assist her and especially pay attention to the English of the children. So Lindi will be the specialist on social and emotional development of the children and Ilse will be the specialist on the English language.
We are looking forward to start this on Saturday!

The children of grade 1 participated in the English lesson for grade 1,3,4 and grade 0+2. Though the lesson in 1,3,4 went very well for them, we noticed that the English lesson of grade 0 + 2 were easier for them and more at their level.
This was a great teaching day!
In the afternoon we had a conversation with our mentor Catalina about what is next and how we are doing. We told her about our idea for the level 3 and she thought this was a great way to start the topic and how we have divided ourselves in a language specialist and social/emotional specialist. We will start with this on Saturday.
The rest of the afternoon we will work on our portfolio and we hope to make some steps forward!
